BRIEF RESUME OF JORGE DAVILA-PESTANA VERGARA


Dávila-Pestana is an Honorary Member of the Bolivarian Societies of Colombia, the Atlantic Coast, and Magdalena. He currently serves as President of the Cartagena Academy of History, Consul of Peru, President of the Bolivarian Society of Cartagena, and Honorary Civic Mayor of the city. He has also served as Dean of the Consular Corps of Cartagena, President of the Colombian Federation of Human Resource Management (ACRIP-Bolívar), and Vice President of the Colombian-French Alliance.

Among his research works, the following stand out: "The Republican Genesis of Colombia," a paper presented at the Congress of Liberty in Mexico City, May 2023; "Bolívar and the Cartagena Manifesto," an analysis of one of Bolívar's most important proclamations; "A Forgotten Hero: José Manuel Goenaga, First Governor of Bolívar," a biography of the first Governor of the Department of Bolívar; "Passion in Paris: The Intimate Life of Simón Bolívar and Countess Dervieu du Villars," an essay on the Liberator's love affair with a French aristocrat; and "Synonyms and Proper Names," research on more than 150 pseudonyms at the national and international levels and their corresponding names. "Regarding the Exploding Eagle of the Cathedral, a study on the Crowned Double-Headed Eagle located within its walls. "Clinical History 034-10 of 1984," an investigation into the true story of the oil portrait of Juan José Nieto, President of Colombia. "Church of San Pedro Claver" and "The Cathedral Bells Toll Due to Their Own Misfortune," an investigation into the construction and vicissitudes of these two heritage churches in the city. "History of a Historical Misstep," a work on the origin of the colonial and republican coats of arms of Cartagena.

He has published numerous articles in magazines and newspapers such as El Universal, the now-defunct Periódico de Cartagena, El Espectador, El Nuevo Siglo of Bogotá, El Heraldo of Barranquilla, and El Meridiano de Sucre, among others.

In his capacity as a diplomat and in his civilian life, he has received, among others, the following honors: the "José Gregorio Paz" Decoration for Merit in the Diplomatic Service of Peru. "Soldán", Grand Officer grade. "Naval Medal of Honor for Merit" of the Peruvian Navy. "Order of Merit for Distinguished Services" Government of Peru, Officer category. "Francisco Fajardo Order", Caracas Governorate, First Class. "Order of Mercury of the Consular Corps of Cartagena" Commander grade. "Rafael Núñez Order" Bolívar Governorate, Knight grade.
