Prof. Dr. Ljiljana Markovic

LJILJANA MARKOVIĆ, PhD, is a prominent Serbian Japanologist, economist, and Full Professor who serves as Special Advisor to the Executive Director of the ECPD UN University for Peace and a member of the IAFOR Board of Directors. Educated at Cambridge University and Chuo University, she spent her 44-year academic career at the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade, where she also served as Dean. She educated hundreds of students, mentored numerous PhDs, and lectured globally as a visiting professor at Osaka and Toho Universities.

For her exceptional contribution to Japanese studies, Serbian culture, and diplomatic projects, she was awarded the Japanese Emperor's Order of the Rising Sun, the Serbian President's Gold Medal of Merit, and the Knight of the Order of Nemanjić Pacifism. She is a member of the Serbian Royal Academy of Scientists and Artists and chairs international academic symposiums focused on the Silk Road and Japanese studies.
